Once a year, every year, the Softr team gathers at an offsite location to meet, collaborate, and build in person. This year, the destination was Greece. Over 50 Softr team members from more than 13 different countries journeyed to the Athenian Riviera to enjoy the sun, sand, and beautiful Mediterranean (plus a healthy dose of Mafia).
The trip came just two weeks after Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey hit theaters, so for many of us, visiting Greece felt serendipitous. After all, we were able to swim, kayak, and snorkel in the same seas sailed by the mythic Odysseus.
But while Greek history was our backdrop, we also looked ahead to a very bright future. There's so much amazing stuff on the horizon for Softr, and we can't wait to share it. In the meantime, here are some of the core memories we made together in Athens.
Day 1: Coming together
The offsite united Softr teammates from all over the world: from places like Canada, Armenia, Singapore, the UK, Taiwan, and Argentina. For some of us (myself included), it was the first time meeting coworkers we'd only ever seen on video calls. For others, it was an opportunity to reconnect with old friends.

We also got to take in our first stunning views of the Saronic Gulf, complete with cats that posed for the camera. (There were so, so many cats in Greece.)

Day 2: Big bets, bigger dance party
On the second day, we took morning swims, enjoyed a lovely breakfast spread, and then met for our first offsite session. To start, we all received a literal treasure trove of Softr swag.

Next, we discussed Softr's future as the AI app builder for business apps, reflecting on how far we've come and aligning on where we're going. We sat down for a candid fireside with Softr leadership, then broke into groups to plan some big bets for this quarter and beyond.

After lunch, it was time for outdoor team-building games, which were about 10x more fun than that sounds on paper. (My favorite was the giant ring toss.)

Believe it or not, we still had enough energy after all this to gather for a beachside dance party (DJ included). And yes, a conga line did form at one point during the night.
Day 3: Ship it (and set sail)
This was our "ship it" day, which meant planning and executing an idea we could actually build before the end of the offsite. For the engineering team, that meant spinning up real product features that'll make Softr a better, more powerful platform for our users.

In the afternoon, we took to the beach for snorkeling and kayaking. Homer called the Mediterranean the "wine-dark sea," but I can't emphasize enough just how clear and blue it really was. Also, I got to swim with a sea turtle.

In case you thought we'd be too tired to do anything but sleep after a day in the sun, we still had enough pep to play a whopping 20-person Mafia game later that night. While it was my first time, Mafia is a long, storied tradition with Softr, and no offsite is complete without at least one session.

Day 4: Demos and the Acropolis
On this day, the team demoed the results of the "ship it" hackathon, showcasing new features, AI workflows, and automations (for both the Softr platform and internal use). This went so well that we're already moving ahead with implementing some of the best ideas.

Then, we all piled into a bus and headed into Athens for a date with the Acropolis. It was a hot, sunny, cloudless day (did I mention hot?), but seeing the Parthenon in person made it all worth it.

When we came down from the Acropolis, we had a couple of hours to explore the surrounding neighborhoods of Plaka and Monastiraki before reconvening for a rooftop dinner. With fantastic food and a sunset view of the Parthenon, you couldn't have asked for a better finale to the offsite.

That night, while some of us said our goodbyes, others sat down for one last game of Mafia. In the morning, most of the team went their separate ways, either flying back home or heading inland for a longer stay.
I hung out for a few extra days in Athens, but when I did come home, it was with the feeling that now I really knew Softr. I knew it because I got to meet the people who make it what it is, and that's not something you can do in a video call or a Slack channel. But you can definitely do it in Greece.
Looking ahead
2026 has been a huge year for Softr. In March, we launched our AI Co-Builder, and new features and integrations have been rolling out at a rapid pace since then.
AI and no-code are constantly shifting, but the offsite gave us the opportunity to sharpen our focus on the things that always matter: empowering our users to build software, creating a product people actually enjoy using, and remembering that our community and customers are what got us here. We left Greece with a clear sense of who we're building for, and an equally clear sense of who we're building it with.
If you want to join us for next year's offsite, take a look at our open roles. And if you haven't had the chance to build an app with Softr yet, you can get started for free today.
