Client Background Chisel is an innovation initiative designed to facilitate and evaluate projects from healthcare institutions, including NHG, NUHS, and SH. The program required a robust digital judging system to manage submissions, evaluations, and scoring across multiple groups and criteria. Goals The client sought a centralized digital platform that would: - Simplify assignment and scoring for judges across various institutions. - Allow administrators to configure judging criteria dynamically. - Automate score aggregation and generate downloadable results. - Enable real-time collaboration between the Chisel coordination team and system developers. Approach The development followed a four-phase rollout as detailed in the Chisel Platform Brief, with structured reviews at the end of each phase. Progress was validated through walkthroughs with Valerie and Kian Seng, ensuring that each feature met functional and performance expectations before advancing to the next stage. Each phase involved: - Iterative development and testing of judging workflows. - Implementation of role-based functionality (judges, coordinators, and admins). - Airtable integration for backend data visualization and calculation logic. - Immediate turnaround for critical bug fixes to ensure uninterrupted use. Tools & Technologies - Frontend: Custom web interface with magic-link login for judges. - Backend: Airtable for scoring, calculations, and data management. - Collaboration: Upwork hourly tracking, Slack/WhatsApp coordination, and live testing sessions. Implementation Highlights - Developed a seamless judge assignment and scoring interface, allowing evaluators to access their sessions securely through magic links. - Structured criteria-based scoring system, dynamically labeled as Criteria 1, Criteria 2, etc., based on judging guidelines. - Integrated Airtable dashboards to visualize judge inputs, score calculations, and group-level averages. - Introduced a workflow for real-time testing and feedback, enabling instant iteration and refinement during client review calls. - Optimized data exports to Excel for transparent reporting and record keeping.
