MWarketplace Shortlist Builder

MWarketplace is a power infrastructure marketplace serving buyers and sellers of megawatts, substations, and energized land for AI/HPC data centers and Bitcoin mining operations across the US. Buyers on this platform are making seven and eight-figure siting decisions, and the broker's core deliverable is the curated shortlist: a worksheet matching a client's criteria (capacity, kWh rate, location, timeline) against available sites. Until recently, every one of those worksheets was assembled by hand in Word. Copying specs from the catalog, formatting tables listing by listing, typing notes, exporting, attaching, emailing. Thirty minutes per document, repeated for every client and every revision, with feedback scattered across email replies.

The Shortlist Builder replaces that entire workflow. The broker creates a shortlist with the client's name and site criteria, searches and filters the live catalog, and adds listings with a click. Each listing carries free-form notes (drive time from downtown, financing terms, energization status) and can be grouped into ad-hoc categories like "Urban and energized" or "Immediately available". When the shortlist is ready, one action generates a branded, public worksheet page the client opens from a link, no login required, and where they can leave feedback on each site directly instead of replying by email.

For the broker running the operation, the invisible work disappeared. There is no document versioning: the shared link always reflects the current state of the shortlist, so an updated price or a new site never requires re-exporting and re-sending anything. Client comments land on the specific listing they refer to, not buried in an email thread. And when a shortlist has served its purpose, an archive control deactivates the public link without deleting the record, keeping the deal history intact.

The standout capability is a question the broker could not answer before: what about sites that aren't on the platform yet? Real shortlists always mix catalog listings with off-market opportunities, which is exactly why the old process lived in Word. The builder handles this natively: the broker creates a custom listing on the fly, attaches the site's PDF fact sheet, and it renders in the client worksheet alongside catalog listings with the same specs table and notes. That flexibility is what let the tool replace the manual workflow completely instead of covering only part of it. It was built as a custom React component through Softr's Vibe Coding block, reading and writing to Airtable as the system of record.

The result: shortlist production went from thirty minutes per document to under one minute, and the deliverable improved at the same time, from a static attachment to a live, branded, interactive page. The first production shortlist was a real client worksheet migrated from Word on day one. With the shortlist workflow solved, the platform's roadmap continues into a broker self-service portal and marketplace analytics, extending the same catalog into more self-serve tools for both sides of the market.
