Softr 2025 year in review: The era of the full-stack AI app builder

2025 was one of Softr’s best years to date: We almost reinvented our platform as we evolved into a full-stack AI app builder, allowing our users to build robust business operating systems that run entire organizations.
This year, our community hit a massive milestone, growing to over 1 million builders. Together, you launched millions of apps and turned manual, siloed processes into scalable software systems. Your ambition drove our roadmap - you asked for more power, less reliance on external tools, and deeper logic. We listened, and in 2025, Softr officially became a full-stack AI app builder.
Before we dive into our vision for 2026, let’s take a moment to celebrate the massive milestones we achieved together this year.
1. Bold brand and website refresh
We started the year with a bold brand and website refresh. Since our early launch four years ago, we’ve grown Softr in ways we couldn’t have imagined. And it only felt right for our brand and website to evolve with us. Our philosophy of product building and supporting our users has always been rooted in simplicity, flexibility, and care - and now our brand reflects that too.

2. Softr became a full-stack app builder
In 2024, everything revolved around making Softr more flexible and powerful. Softr expanded its 3th party native data-source connections to
- Spreadsheet favorites like Airtable, Google Sheets, and SmartSuite,
- Business tools like HubSpot, Notion, monday.com, Clickup, and Coda,
- Data warehouses like BigQuery,
- SQL databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Xano, and Supabase,
- Rest API to connect to virtually any other data source.
For years, Softr was the best interface for your data. In 2025, Softr has transformed from an interface builder platform to a full-stack platform by completing the puzzle with two new products, Databases and Workflows. These new products eliminate the need for third-party workflow automation tools and external databases, allowing businesses to build, automate, and manage their data - all within Softr’s ecosystem.
Softr Databases: Build and manage relational databases directly in Softr with customizable views and fields. Your team can update and organize data in real time, with no external tools, API limits, or sync delays.

Workflows: Automate processes with loops, conditions, branches, and schedulers. Trigger actions with buttons - send emails when users join, mention teammates in comments, or call external APIs - all without external automation tools.

This makes Softr truly the only business operating system you need to run your business’s entire operations on. And the best part? No compromise on ease of use and simplicity - both products are as intuitive as Softr’s iconic app-builder.
3. AI for builders & your end users
We set out to build AI differently. Not for the hype, not as a checkbox - but as a core capability that delivers real, compounding value to our customers. We embedded AI into the data and the user experience to combine the reliability of no-code with the flexibility of AI.
Vibe-coding: Build on Softr’s robust, secure infrastructure while adding an extra layer of flexibility. Instead of asking AI to write an entire app from scratch, use vibe-coding to instantly generate custom components for the specific moments where you need unique functionality. It is the winning setup for production-ready apps.

Database AI agents: Automate data cleanup, enrichment, tagging, and summaries by toggling on AI Agents in database fields. Choose from the latest LLM models, with optional live web search for up-to-date data.

Ask AI: Empower users to get instant answers from your app data in plain language through a chatbot interface that respects all visibility and permission rules automatically.

AI formulas & filters: Generate database filters and formula fields by describing what you need in plain language—no complex syntax required.
4. Building sleek, intuitive apps got 10x easier and faster
The brand refresh was followed by a reimagined app-building experience, making sure every app built on Softr looks sleek by default, and is flexible enough to adapt to how your users work.
"Internal tools don't have to look like internal tools.” This has always been our philosophy.
Redesigned core blocks: Build modern, professional apps with new tables, grids, lists, charts, and kanban boards. Give users a simpler, more intuitive experience while you set up faster.

New navigation & footer blocks: Start faster with ready-made, collapsible navigation layouts and matching footer designs. Show or hide buttons for different user groups without needing to build separate menus.
New layouts (tabs & columns): Place blocks side by side with flexible columns, ideal for dashboards and account pages. Use horizontal tabs to organize content, reduce scrolling, and help users find information faster.
Single Page Application (SPA) mode: With a new app-level setting, SPA mode, we gave your apps a speed boost and a more modern, smooth, and professional feeling when navigating and working in the app.
New utility pages: Skip the setup work - log in, sign up, account settings, and password recovery pages are automatically created and organized in a dedicated section.
And so much more:
- New: Quick links block
- New: Tooltips & icons for forms and labels across any block
5. New functionalities and quality of life improvements
User onboarding flows: Create guided onboarding experiences for new users at first login. Assign different flows by signup page or user group and track progress from the Users tab.

Native comments system: Enable in-app collaboration with comment blocks that support role-based permissions. Manage all comments from a central panel with conditional notifications.
Inline edit for tables: Update table fields directly without opening separate forms—simply click, edit, and move on.

And so much more:
- New: Date & number display fields
- New: Auto delete/deactivate unsynced users
- New: Dynamic app logos and Studio SSO (Enterprise plan)
6. New and deeper integrations with your tools
Coda & ClickUp as data sources: Connect Coda and ClickUp to build secure portals and internal tools on top of your existing workflows, bringing our total to 17 supported data sources and many more with the Rest API.
Automation tools: Connect Softr Databases to Make, n8n, and Zapier to sync data, create tasks, and send alerts using our public API and native integrations.
7. Community & Partner Ecosystem
Over the past few years, community and partners have been at the heart of Softr’s story. This year, we launched a new Softr Partner Program (formerly known as the Softr Experts program), taking it to the next level: a fully revamped initiative that gives you more visibility, credibility, and resources to grow your business alongside Softr.
We also hosted our biggest Build Week yet, and saw thousands of you master the new Workflows and Databases features. We sponsored the Build With conference again, connecting with builders who are pushing the boundaries of what's possible without code.
This year, we have also spent quality time with some of our customers and captured how they use Softr to grow and operate their business more efficiently. Check out many of our recent customer stories captured here.
8. The grand finale: 12 days of Softr
We ended 2025 with 12 Days of Softr - shipping updates, performance boosts, and top-requested features back-to-back.

Stronger than ever
Being a fully-remote team has given us superpowers and access to the best talent - but you also suddenly realize you’ve been working with your favorite teammate(s) over dozens of remote calls for months without ever sharing a midday snack with them, enjoying, and just spending time with the incredible teammates working towards the same big mission!
That’s exactly what this year’s offsite gave us. A few days to pause, reflect, share ideas, and connect without the constant pressure of “what’s next.”
What’s next in 2026?
Our vision has stayed consistent over the years - “Empowering billions of knowledge workers to create software. Without code.”
Until 2025, it was about building the easiest no-code platform for making business app creation simple. With LLMs becoming powerful enough - and accessible in 2025 - for the first time ever, the idea of “I can build something myself” has become mainstream for millions of people who had never thought they could build. Even with all that progress, most organizations still rely heavily on spreadsheets, email, or paperwork to manage their key processes and workflows.
2026 will be all about a bigger shift in the history of software building. We’re moving from building software to software that builds with you. AI isn’t replacing our mission - it’s accelerating it. The next generation of software will be built by everyone - not because we simplified code, but because we simplified creation - and made building hard things easy.
And this is exactly the future we’re building: Software that helps people build software — without breaking it.
Stay tuned for major updates early next year!
