This project showcases the creation of a custom inventory management portal that combines the power of Softr, Airtable, and custom QR code scanning to simplify inventory control for clubs, organizations, and businesses.
Originally designed for sailing clubs to manage boats, parts, and equipment, the system’s flexibility allows it to be applied to sports clubs, educational institutions, warehouses, or any setting requiring efficient inventory management.
Key Features
Role-Based Access Control
- Different users (members, managers, and admins) have tailored access to records, ensuring data visibility is appropriately restricted.
- Members can view and manage their assigned items.
- Admins have full visibility across the entire inventory.
Seamless QR Code Integration
- Each asset is tagged with a QR code, allowing users to scan and instantly view item details, locations, and status directly from the Softr portal.
- This improves accuracy, speeds up inventory audits, and reduces administrative burden.
Custom QR Code Scanner
- Using a custom HTML QR scanner component (powered by html5-qrcode), the system allows direct scanning through the portal, making asset retrieval quick and intuitive.
Adaptability Beyond Sailing Clubs
- While initially created for maritime clubs, the framework can easily be adapted for manufacturing facilities, event equipment rentals, educational institutions, and more.
Enhanced Efficiency & Tracking
- The combination of Airtable’s powerful data storage and Softr’s user-friendly interface provides a seamless experience for real-time inventory tracking, history logs, and reporting.
