Empowering Community Platform: Women in Construction (Fiji)
We partnered with WICAT, a not-for-profit advocating for women’s rights in the trades, to design a digital platform that supports both visibility and community. The build included a public-facing website to communicate their mission and events, and a secure membership database where women can register, manage their profiles, and access resources. The platform was designed with admin-friendly tools so WICAT can grow their impact without relying on technical teams.
From the partner
WICAT is a Fijian not-for-profit organisation advocating for the rights, safety, and recognition of women working in male-dominated trades. Their mission is rooted in addressing the real challenges women face on construction sites — from everyday harassment to the broader lack of visibility and support.
We partnered with WICAT to design and deliver a digital platform that supports both their public advocacy and behind-the-scenes operations. The platform includes:
– A public-facing website that communicates WICAT’s mission, showcases their community impact, and shares news, events, and resources
– A private membership database where women can register, manage their profiles, and access member-only information
– An admin dashboard for WICAT’s team to oversee registrations, send updates, and manage content with ease
To foster a sense of connection from day one, we also implemented default member profiles — ensuring the community space feels active and welcoming even before new users personalise their accounts. This small design decision makes a big difference in creating a platform that feels alive, especially in the early stages.
Built using no-code tools, the system was intentionally designed to be lightweight and easy for WICAT to manage internally. We also provided training and documentation so their team can confidently evolve the platform as their network grows.
This build wasn’t just technical — it was mission-aligned. By creating digital infrastructure tailored to their advocacy goals, we helped WICAT scale their visibility, strengthen their membership offering, and build a space where women in trade feel seen and supported.
