Rachel Quimby's journey with DCW Cost Management began without any prior development experience. Yet she was driven by a need within the company to effectively relay information to the team, who struggled with not having a single place to go to access data from different sources.
"The biggest challenge I faced was not having a user-friendly interface where the team could get information from multiple tables in different ways," said Rachel.
Softr enabled Rachel — now DCW's associate director of systems and innovation — to create an employee portal for the company, which functioned like an interactive website.
The portal improved how team members accessed data, from project details to company policies. It eliminated the need for back-and-forth inquiries and streamlined the process of information sharing within the company.
Example: "We figured out how to connect my project notes table to the project details page," said Rachel. "This saved time for employees, while also eliminating the possibility of human error."
The full potential of the Softr app is yet to be realized, as the new process is still rolling out. However, Rachel can already see the significant time savings and improved information management it will bring— and DCW Cost Management isn't stopping here.
"The next steps are to test with the employees and add efficiencies," said Rachel. "From there, we'll build out a client interface and automations."
This forward-thinking approach isn't just about using technology to centralize data; it's about reinventing how a small consultancy firm can operate and scale with custom tools.
"Employees can now submit a receipt for reimbursement as easily as they can check what projects are on their plate, or share a link to an instructional video that taught them something helpful in Excel."
