Overview

The Event Listing template is great for building a comprehensive directory of events for a specific niche. Out of the box, it’s a design and tech events listing from around the world, but you can easily add any type of events and tailor it to your needs. The main advantage of the template is how smooth the event searching and filtering is organized. You can set up the search based on any of the event characteristics (Name, Description, Location, Time, and so on). The same applies to filtering. You can filter the list by any parameter and have single- or multi-select filters shown as drop-downs or buttons.

Each event has its details page, where you can store all the additional information about the event (e.g. ticket costs, images, lineup, address) and link to the event website.

Another important feature of the template is the possibility to get user submissions. If you keep this option enabled, user will be able to suggest events, which you can then review and publish on your site. As a result, you’ll able to build and maintain a thorough database of events, where each item is easily discoverable and which can continuously accommodate new entries from your visitors.

How it works

To get started, you just need a Softr account. Softr has a forever free plan, and the template doesn’t imply any additional costs either. So, you can build and launch your event listing completely free of charge and upgrade later on when you need to scale. The next step after choosing the template is importing its Airtable base to your Airtable account (yes, you need an Airtable account too, but the free plan will do just fine). Next, you can start adding your own data to your Airtable database, customizing the look and feel of the template, adding new pages, and playing around.

If you choose to collect submissions from your users, they can be stored in the same Airtable database along with your existing events, and you can choose which one to publish (e.g. by having an additional “Approved” field and showing only approved entries through conditional filters). Moreover, the template comes with an email capture form, where you can collect user emails (you can, for instance, send out a weekly newsletter with a list of events for that week). Integrations with such services as Mailchimp are available. Finally, there’s also a contact form to receive questions and feedback from your visitors.

FAQ

As soon as you click the Use the template button, you'll be immediately taken to Softr studio and can start working on the template. If you don't have a Softr account, you'll be prompted to register first (a Free account will work just fine).

All the Softr templates are completely free of charge and can be used with any of the Softr subscription plans. However, Free and Starter plans have a limitation on the number of application users, so you might need to consider a higher subscription plan if you need to have full Memberships access.

Not really. The free Airtable subscription plan provides 1200 records per base, so if that's sufficient for your project, the free plan will work just fine.

No, unfortunately that's not possible. You'd need to create a new application using the template.

You need to copy the base with mock data to your Airtable account which is linked to your Softr application. The process is described here.

Yes the given template is just a handy starting point, and you can add more blocks and pages to customize it exactly as needed.

Yes, we have native Stripe integration, but you can also link to other payment services if preferred.

Our awesome features

Making internal business processes more efficient with Softr

I have been impressed with the flexibility of Softr. The ability to pull data from different Airtable bases into different blocks and display them on one page was one of the main reasons I chose Softr.
